Ten Favorite FREE Photo Sharing Sites.

Flickr

This is probably the most popular free photo sharing site around. It’s interface is a bit confusing to me ( at least I found at first)  and it’s the first time I’d ever heard the term ‘photostream but over time it’s really easy to use. Design is clean, you can view photos in different sizes, leave comments and discuss with others and more. If you’re looking for more than just a quick place to upload a pic and get a link Flickr is a good place to start. Upgrading to their ‘pro’ feature offers you much more storage space and allows you to upload and share video too.

My Photo Album

Features include adding Photo and Video, and unlimited photos. You get your very own URL to share your gallery with which is kindof neat in the format of http://yourname.myphotoalbum.com and you can choose from hundreds of styles and layouts to customize your gallery to your heart’s content. Other features include being able to email custom invitations to view your album, embed your photos and videos on other sites (such as forums), the ability to select who sees your album – public or private. It doesn’t require user registration to view your album and they offer tagging features and RSS feeds available so you can find images easily.

Image Shack

Want a quick and easy way to upload a photo and share it?  Image Shack is one photo sharing website that allows you to do just that. Choose your file, enter your email, choose options and hit upload. You’re done.

Photo Bucket.

Unlike Image Shack, Photo bucket requires a login to share your photos. Once logged in, you can upload photos and video, share everywhere including facebook, myspace, blogger, via email and more. You can create photo albums and slide shows to show to family and friends. Other features include being able to share the best myspace icons.

Tiny Pic

Tiny Pic is like Image Shack. A quick and dirty way to share an image. Choose the file, make tags, Choose file type (photo or video), choose the size, and you’re done. And the best part is of course, it’s free.

Webshots

Webshots requires you to create an account and login. Features include being able to make prints from your photos (current special is 9¢ each for halloween photos). You can also make a slideshow and share your photos with friends and family.

Village Photos

Village Photos claims to make image hosting easy – since 1999. If you can get past the fact that the site looks like it was designed in 1999 and the fact that it requires you to login/signup the feature set is quite impressive: They offer ebay seller tools listing management, and a page designer html too which allows you to create your ebay auction or any other html page. You can organzize images into custom albums, optimize the jpeg filesize and make online greeting cards (does anybody still do that?).

Tiny Album

Tiny Album’s tagline reads ‘photo sharing made easy’. It requires a login/signup, so I’m going to vote for Image Shack so far the photo sharing made easy shootout. But, once logged in they do have an impressive feature set: You can upload, but also create albums, protect your private albums with passwords and upload as many photos as a you like, and the best part is – its’ free.

Hiboox

All right, somebody please clue me in to what ‘hiboox’ stands for. Other sites have photo, or album, or some variation of those words, but HiBoox. I fail to see the connection. Name aside, Hiboox is on my favorites because it is the easiest way to share photos I know: Choose the file, and hit Send. You’re done.

Fotolode

Fotolode offers Free hosting with their free plan which inludes 5000mb of disk space, 3000mb of bandwidth and 5 image galleries. There’s other plans available, but they cost money, and this is about FREE photo hosting, not pad. The bummer is you have to sign up.

I hope you’ve found this list useful and I’m sure I’ve missed some. If so, please feel free to add to this list in the comments.

    1. My choice goes to KoffeePhoto. Free photo sharing, communities, slideshows with background music, embeddable slideshows, desktop photo organizer, etc.. A pretty complete solution.

    2. Thanks for the tip. One host for the next episode..I’m sure there’s more than the few I have listed here. Anybody else?

    3. A fantastic read….very literate and informative. Many thanks….where is your RSS button ?
