Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 Review

Eighteen times.

That’s the zoom factor on this small yet mighty digital camera from Panasonic. Yup, the Panasonic  Lumix DMC-FZ35 offers an 18x zoom ratio. Not 3x like some  measly compact cameras do. Not 5x, nope – 18x. Now this isn’t as good as the 20x zoom ratio that’s available on the Canon SX20is, but 18 time is pretty close.

The beauty of this little camera is a mixture of things all combined together and you’ve got a best selling digital camera that beats  a lot of higher priced and lower priced digital cameras out of the top ten digital camera spots.

How about  we start with the lens? Not  only do you get the 18x zoom that pretty much covers all you could want in choosing a proper focal length this small and mighty best selling digital camera also comes with  HD video recording with a dedicated recording button on the back of the camera body, it also offers the flexibility of a full hybrid camera that allows you to shoot  both formats: still photography or record high definition video.

The creative movie mode allows you to set the shutter and aperture fully on manual so you have full control when making your favorite  high definition movies. The image stabilization features built in enhance both video and still photography.

The  high definition 18x zoom lens with offers both wide angle at 27mm and goes up to 486mm for getting close to the action when you the photographer can’t. the high end leica optics allow for you to shoot photographs that are sharper and clearer than you’ve ever been able to with a small compact camera like the FZ35 from Panasonic.

Finally, this little compact from Panasonic is fast and responsive with quick start up time and autofocus speeds that allow you to shoot up to 2.3 frames per second to catch the action when you need to.  The battery allows you to take up to 450 photos on one single charge. Add it all up and you ‘ve got a great camera that’s smaller than dslr but still offers a very flexible zoom range and high end leica glass to boot.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 has a suggested retail price of $399, but you can do better with the street price being about $330 from vendors like Amazon, Adorama, Ritz and B+H Camera.

      Best Digital Cameras

Trying to determine what the best digital camera is depends on so many different variables it’s almost mind boggling. When I started in photography cameras had settings for shutter speed on the camera body, aperture on the camera lens and that was pretty much it. Fast Forward to 2010 cameras have gotten easier to use thanks to digital camera technology in the form of point and shoot and single lens reflex formats but what is the best digital camera that suits your needs? The best digital camera for sports might be a SLR, but when you have to carry a [...]

      Canon SD4000is Digital Camera Review

Canon SD400is Digital Camera The Canon SD4000is has to be considered one of, if not the most feature packed digital cameras I have reviewed to date. This new digital camera  from Canon announced in March 2010 offers many new and advanced technology features that include a super slow movie mode, a fast f/2.0 lens (same as the S90) and a low light shooting mode that makes this digital camera a dream to use when the light is low. Canon Powershot SX20is Digital Camera Review

The Canon SX20is digital camera has one very, very important feature that in my own opinion makes the Canon SX20is a best selling digital camera and beats a lot of other digital cameras on the market today: A 20x zoom lens This one feature (actually there’s another but we’ll get to that in a moment) makes this the best and one of the cheaper digital cameras that are perfect for travelling this summer. With the Canon SX20is you can carry only one camera with you yet still make great photos and use the flexibility that only a 20x zoom lens [...]

Nikon Coolpix S8000 Digital Camera Review

The Nikon Coolpix S8000 small and compact digital camera offer a whole lot of features considering it’s size and price.  With a suggested retail price of $299, it’s still a deal of a digital camera, but with discounts you can buy the Nikon S8000 for much less than the ‘suggested price’ might be. But enough about the Nikon S8000 price, what makes or breaks a digital camera is it’s feature set and the Nikon S8000 is no slouch. Offering 14 megapixels (actually, 14.2) and a 10x optical zoom lens and 3 inch LCD you’d think that would be enough features right [...]

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera takes what was already a very good digital camera in the Canon EOS Rebel T1i and improves on the T1i even further improvements such as more megapixels, better low light sensitivity, and an improved movie mode that offers manual exposure control and Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Like the earlier T1i, the T2i comes in two different configurations: one with kit lens, and one configured as just the camera body only with no lens at all included. Today, I’m reviewing the Canon T2i with 18-55mm zoom lens, so you’re [...]
