Nikon Coolpix P100 Digital Camera Review

The Nikon P100  Digital Camera offers one of the most versatile zoom ratios available today on a small and compact digital camera.

With a size that’s a touch bigger than a compact camera would be the Nikon P100 is still small enough to fit in a purse.

As mentioned before, the Nikon P100 offers a fantastic zoom lens ration that has to be the biggest of all the digital camera reviews I have made to date, at 26x optical zoom that covers th e focal lengths of 26mm on the wide side and 678mm on  the telephoto end of the zoom rati0.

With a DSLR you would have to spend thousands of dollars on an exotic zoom lens that would extend to 600mm.

But the New Nikon P100 isn’t just about zoom ratios, although that is the most impressive  feature set with this nikon digital camera. 10 megapixels offers mor than enough resolution for poster sized prints and the big and bright 3.0 inch high resolution lcd display offers the neat and useful variable angle lcd display that rotates and spins to allow you to compose and review your photos via any angle so that you can make great photos even if the angles you want to shoot aren’t comfortable or easy to shoot from. The LCD display offers flexibility in shooting that earlier digital cameras could not provide.

HD video recording is standard on this new Nikon as most digital cameras in 2010 offer this feature and the Nikon P100 does not disappoint with HD movies recorded at full HD 1020p resolution with stereo sound recording and up to two hour  of recording time.

One of the newer technologies that is used in the Nikon P100 is nikon’s new Backside Illumination CMOS sensor. What this provides is better technology  when shooting dark or at night scenes by merging data from the same scene into one image – quite similar  in how HDR photography works: the camera records the best exposures from each scene and then combines them so that you get  blacks with detail and whites also retain the detail that would otherwise be lost when using CMOS sensors with older technology  or without this feature.

The Smart Portrat system  built into this digital camera results in better portraits or photos of your friends and family. Use the skin softening feature to  smooth the skin tone yet still maintain sharp details in the image where needed. Your have the ability to make your friends and family look their best when photographed with the Nikon P100.

The Nikon P100 has a MSRP of  $399.95 but you can do much better on price by buying the Nikon P100 through popular retail stores such as Amazon,  Ritz, B+H and Adorama. Street Prices for the Nikon P100 are currently priced just under $350 from these digital camera stores.

      Best Digital Cameras

Trying to determine what the best digital camera is depends on so many different variables it’s almost mind boggling. When I started in photography cameras had settings for shutter speed on the camera body, aperture on the camera lens and that was pretty much it. Fast Forward to 2010 cameras have gotten easier to use thanks to digital camera technology in the form of point and shoot and single lens reflex formats but what is the best digital camera that suits your needs? The best digital camera for sports might be a SLR, but when you have to carry a [...]

      Canon SD4000is Digital Camera Review

Canon SD400is Digital Camera The Canon SD4000is has to be considered one of, if not the most feature packed digital cameras I have reviewed to date. This new digital camera  from Canon announced in March 2010 offers many new and advanced technology features that include a super slow movie mode, a fast f/2.0 lens (same as the S90) and a low light shooting mode that makes this digital camera a dream to use when the light is low. Canon Powershot SX20is Digital Camera Review

The Canon SX20is digital camera has one very, very important feature that in my own opinion makes the Canon SX20is a best selling digital camera and beats a lot of other digital cameras on the market today: A 20x zoom lens This one feature (actually there’s another but we’ll get to that in a moment) makes this the best and one of the cheaper digital cameras that are perfect for travelling this summer. With the Canon SX20is you can carry only one camera with you yet still make great photos and use the flexibility that only a 20x zoom lens [...]

Nikon Coolpix S8000 Digital Camera Review

The Nikon Coolpix S8000 small and compact digital camera offer a whole lot of features considering it’s size and price.  With a suggested retail price of $299, it’s still a deal of a digital camera, but with discounts you can buy the Nikon S8000 for much less than the ‘suggested price’ might be. But enough about the Nikon S8000 price, what makes or breaks a digital camera is it’s feature set and the Nikon S8000 is no slouch. Offering 14 megapixels (actually, 14.2) and a 10x optical zoom lens and 3 inch LCD you’d think that would be enough features right [...]

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera takes what was already a very good digital camera in the Canon EOS Rebel T1i and improves on the T1i even further improvements such as more megapixels, better low light sensitivity, and an improved movie mode that offers manual exposure control and Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Like the earlier T1i, the T2i comes in two different configurations: one with kit lens, and one configured as just the camera body only with no lens at all included. Today, I’m reviewing the Canon T2i with 18-55mm zoom lens, so you’re [...]
