Nikon Coolpix L22 Digital Camera Review
The Nikon Coolpix L22 Digital Camera is the second from the bottom of the lineup in the Nikon Coolpix digital camera line, only beating the Nikon Coolpix L21 in price and feature set. To start off, the Nikon Coolpix L22 offers more megapixels with 12 megapixels of resolution that’s enough to make great looking 16×20 prints from such a small and easy to use digital camera.
But just because this is a small and relatively simple digital camera to use, doesn’t mean that you can’t make some great prints and get great results, as the Nikon Coolpix L22 is a modern compact camera with a street price of just over $100 from most vendors (we’ll get to that in a bit)
But first let’s explore the main feature set of this digital camera, and what it means to you and your digital photography needs:
A 3.6x zoom lens that retracts into the body when not in use (as most compact digital cameras do) offers a zoom range that’s capable for what you would want and expect out of a small point and shoot digital camera: it’s not the fastest lens, or has longest zoom lens, but it’s priced at just over $100 so you can’t have it all. But a 3.6x zoom offers a range of about 28mm on the wide end of the focal length, which is great for group shots or lanscape photography. Telephoto zoom range extends to about 100mm. This is a great length for getting closer to the action, such as your child’s school play, or if you need to shoot a close up portrait. Regardless of the lens length blurry photos are no fun, and because the lens on this is as fast as other more expensive digital cameras, this little Nikon ships standard with image stabilization built in to the Coolpix L22 so you can be sure your photos are sharp and free of blur.
When shopping for a simple digital camera a lot of people looking to buy a small digital camera are looking for easy. They don’t need or want a lot of bells and whistles and settings and they just need and want the camera to take care of all settings such as exposure and aperture and shutter speed and all that technical stuff. They just want great photos – and the Nikon L22 doesn’t dissappoint – the easy auto mode with auto scene selector simplifies the process of making great photos with ease. Just point and shoot the small nikon and you’ll get great photos every time.
This small nikon camera runs on AA batteries and I’m big fan of cameras that are powered by simple batteries: they’re easy to travel with. The Nikon L22 will fit in your pocket, and for replacement power you can pack some spare batteries or buy some more batteries when you are out on your travels as it’s usually not too hard to find a place that will sell you replacement batteries.
The Nikon L22 is a simple point and shoot digital camera that is continually a best selling point and shoot , and it’s easy to see why: It’s a cheap digital camera with impressive standard features such as 3.6x zoom lens with image stabilization and easy to use auto settings take the guesswork out of camera settings.
The Nikon L22 has a suggested retail price of $129, but online stores like Amazon, Ritz, B+H and Adorama offers a street price of about $100 for this great compact digital camera.
