The Nikon Coolpix L18 is a no-nonsense compact camera with a great feature set and a price of under $100.
It includes anti-shake technology by automatically rasing both the Shutter Speed and the ISO to ensure your photos are not blurry but crisp and clean. It’s an 8 megapixel digital camera which is more than enough megapixels for most consumer’s needs. This is an $89 camera. You have to spend MUCH more for slightly higher megapixel count. For example the Canon G10 is a 14 megapixel digital camera but the MSRP on it is $499, which is considerably higher in price.
One big plus of this little Nikon is the fact that it is powered by good old AA batteries making this the perfect travel camera as the AA’s are available worldwide. It also cuts down on stuff to pack as you don’t have to pack a battery charger as well.
A big 3 inch LCD display graces the back of this small digital camera, allowing you to compose and review your photos on the bright, clear display, even in direct sunlight.
This may be a small and inexpensive digital camera but the feature set is quite long. Advanced features include face priority AF which allows the camera to focus on the most important part of your portraits: the face, ensuring sharp faces every time.
The D-Lighting feature, exclusive to Nikon Digital Cameras and included in this one allows you to edit your photos in the camera to rescue underexposed photos. The camera makes a copy of your photo adding more information as needed such as light and detail.
VR Image Stabilization guarantees sharp photos that would otherwise require a tripod to eliminate camera shake. The advanced technology of the VR image stabilization ensures your photos are sharp even under the most demanding lighting conditions.
Red eye can be corrected in the camera with this model using a series of pre-flashes that stimulate your subject’s pupils before the shot is made. After the shot, the camera analyzes the frame for red eye and automatically adjusts as needed
The Nikon L18 is a basic camera, with a great set of standard features including Face Detection AF, Image Stabilization, and a big 3 inch LCD display. At a under a hundred dollars, it’s no wonder that it’s a top seller in the crowded and confusing digital camera market.
