Nikon Canada’s Holiday Gift Guide is out. Here’s my Picks.

3 Dec

Nikon Canada has released a ‘Holiday Gift Guide’ for 2008.

Here’s a few of my favorites:

Nikon D90. If you have to have ONE SLR with the most bang for buck, this would be my pick. Video, 12MP, for close to half the price of a D300. Lighter too.

Nikon AFS DX VR 18-200mm f 3.5-5.6. This is the ONE lens that’s always on my Nikon D300. Great for travel. I grab this lens and out the door I go.

Nikon AFS DX 18-15mm. This lens comes with a lot of kits, and no wonder. for most, it’s both wide and long enough, lightweight and cheap too.

Nikon D40. I had one of these kits until the boss saw it. Now it’s hers. Lightweight and compact this little guy does pretty much everything that it’s big brothers do but you just have to dig deeper in the menus to get to what you want.  Street price on the D40 is about $400, and it’s SO much better and not much bigger than any compact camera.

SB-600 Speedlight. Photography is all about good light, and you can’t rely on your built in flash if you want great and creative lighting, and available light will only take you so far. The SB-600 gets the light off the camera and can be used remotely, and wireless.  Add a stand and umbrella to this little guy and you’ll be shooting like a pro. All for about $200 or so.

Nikon D700. Need a full-frame digital camera that doesn’t cost 8 grand? Get all the features pretty much of the D3 with less weight, and about half the price. These have a street price of about $2500.

Nikon Coolpix L18. At about $100, this is feature filled compact camera that easily fits in your pocket. 8 megapixels, anti shake technology, and big bright 3 inch screen for composing and reviewing your shots.
