kodak playsport zx3 waterproof video cameraFor summertime videos at the beach or anywhere else you might be around water this summer, the Kodak PlaySport Zx3 is the perfect solution to getting and capturing great high definition video but without having to worry about your electronics getting wrecked as the PlaySport Video Camera is waterproof  as well as shockproof  too.

With a suggested price of $149.00 but a street price of less – about $135 you can buy this video camera and shoot full HD 1080p high definition video but without the worry about getting the camera wet. In fact, you can shoot underwater with this small and portable video camera from Kodak if you wish.

The Kodak PlaySport features a 2 inch LCD display that’s a bit small by most standards as most modern high definition video cameras, like the Zi8 I reviewed offers a larger LCD display at 2.5 inches. So although not the biggest LCD display available, it’s still plenty big to record and review HD video, regardless of the elements.

Blurry and shakey videos are no fun, but thankfully the Kodak PlaySport Zx3 offers built in image stabilization technology that combats the jittery videos so you can be sure when you are recording video with the Zx3, that your video are crisp and clear and in full High Definition.

As well as a high definition and waterproof video camera, the Kodak  PlaySport Zx3 also is fully competent as a still digital camera and offers 5MP of resolution. You probably won’t be happy with poster sized prints from the PlaySport, but for prints up to 8×10 the resolution on the Playsport  Zx3 are possible and acceptable.

One of the features the 2 inch LCD display does contain is an LCD Glare Shield feature that offers two filters you can apply to block the bright rays of the sun – allowing you to view your photos with ease. Rest assured that your actual video isn’t affected by these filters, but they are applied to just the LCD display leaving your videos untouched.

Sharing the videos and photos you take with the Zx3 is the other half of buying a portable video camera  - you want to share your photos and high definiton HD video with friends and  family and the small waterproof playsport includes cable and software to allow you to share your photos on popular websites such as youtube, facebook and twitter easily.  Also included is a HDMI cable that allows you to hook up the Playsport Zx3 to a video source such as a high definition TV or monitor so you can share your videos with friends and family.

The Kodak PlaySport Zx3 is a capable and portable video camera that’s waterproof up to ten feet and is perfect to use this summer when you want to capture your favorite memories and not have to worry about your video camera getting affected by the elements of nature.

Buy the PlaySport Zx3 from Amazon, Ritz, B+H or Adorama for less than the suggested retail price. Most online vendors carry the Playsport video camera at just over $125.00.

      Best Digital Cameras

Trying to determine what the best digital camera is depends on so many different variables it’s almost mind boggling. When I started in photography cameras had settings for shutter speed on the camera body, aperture on the camera lens and that was pretty much it. Fast Forward to 2010 cameras have gotten easier to use thanks to digital camera technology in the form of point and shoot and single lens reflex formats but what is the best digital camera that suits your needs? The best digital camera for sports might be a SLR, but when you have to carry a [...]

      Canon SD4000is Digital Camera Review

Canon SD400is Digital Camera The Canon SD4000is has to be considered one of, if not the most feature packed digital cameras I have reviewed to date. This new digital camera  from Canon announced in March 2010 offers many new and advanced technology features that include a super slow movie mode, a fast f/2.0 lens (same as the S90) and a low light shooting mode that makes this digital camera a dream to use when the light is low. Canon Powershot SX20is Digital Camera Review

The Canon SX20is digital camera has one very, very important feature that in my own opinion makes the Canon SX20is a best selling digital camera and beats a lot of other digital cameras on the market today: A 20x zoom lens This one feature (actually there’s another but we’ll get to that in a moment) makes this the best and one of the cheaper digital cameras that are perfect for travelling this summer. With the Canon SX20is you can carry only one camera with you yet still make great photos and use the flexibility that only a 20x zoom lens [...]

Nikon Coolpix S8000 Digital Camera Review

The Nikon Coolpix S8000 small and compact digital camera offer a whole lot of features considering it’s size and price.  With a suggested retail price of $299, it’s still a deal of a digital camera, but with discounts you can buy the Nikon S8000 for much less than the ‘suggested price’ might be. But enough about the Nikon S8000 price, what makes or breaks a digital camera is it’s feature set and the Nikon S8000 is no slouch. Offering 14 megapixels (actually, 14.2) and a 10x optical zoom lens and 3 inch LCD you’d think that would be enough features right [...]

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera takes what was already a very good digital camera in the Canon EOS Rebel T1i and improves on the T1i even further improvements such as more megapixels, better low light sensitivity, and an improved movie mode that offers manual exposure control and Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Like the earlier T1i, the T2i comes in two different configurations: one with kit lens, and one configured as just the camera body only with no lens at all included. Today, I’m reviewing the Canon T2i with 18-55mm zoom lens, so you’re [...]
