Otherwise known as “how to lose money online”
I bet no other photography site does this. Report the stats and earnings every week. And that’s what I plan on doing here at Photo Daily News. It should be no suprise that unless you’re just doing this for a hobby that most sites need to make money to survive. Some sites, need to make a lot as they have employees, and ad budgets, etc. I’m a one man show here. I make my money (for now, anyway) with my other site, ramseeker.com. It pays the bills. This is a labor of love at the time being..At very least, I’d love to break even.
We’re all in this together. You subscribe to a newsletter, or tell a friend about PDN is probably the BEST thing you can for me right now. We’re new. As in brand-spanking new – new. It should be no suprise to you that I’ve spent more than I’ve earned to date. I hope, over time to change this.
I have until April 1 to make a go of this. Then, it’s time to try something else This is my last chance effort at making a living online. Which is all I want to do, really. I LOVE getting up every morning wondering what I’m going to write about today. This is SO much fun, I should have done this years ago. Who knew? I took photography in school, yet I end up writing. Sometimes life is too funny.
Stats
I found some guy on Digital Point Forum selling traffic. It’s a pay per click thing. People sign up and they get paid to visit Photo Daily News. I bought like 100,000 visitors and most of my referrers have been through there. Sadly, the visitors don’t do much other than wait the 20 seconds or whatever it takes for the next site they need to visit to load.
Stats for the last 7 days
Income:
Google Adsense; $1.93
Affilliate Sales: Zero, zilch. Nada.
Expenses:
1. $25 for the traffic I bought
2. $10 for the domain name.
3. $20 monthly for aweber newsletter sending and management. This might be the best money I’ve spent. It’s only been a day since I’ve done this so too early to tell.
4. .54¢ for a small google adwords campaign.
Totals:
Expenses $40.54
Income $1.93
LOSS of $38.61
I’m hoping that next week can be better, and at very least break even. It’s quite possible. Wait, maybe not. I’ve got a pretty cool digital camera review coming up, and noboby sends me this stuff for free, I bought it. So, next week I have to make $20 to break even, or thereabouts.
