Canon Rebel XS Digital Camera Review

Canon Rebel XS Digital Camera ReviewsThe Canon Digital Rebel XS is not a new camera by any means, but it’s still an affordable best selling digital camera, even though at the time I write this it’s over seven years old. So why review a seven year  old camera? Because it’s still a good deal for a top selling digital camera that offers enough features and flexibility for most users looking for a digital slr under $500. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a quality DSLR, regardless of the age.

Let’s start with the megapixels: 10.2 isn’t considered the maximum megapixel count any more and even $100 digital cameras have more megapixels – but if you’re not going to be making  prints the size of a bus, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between a ten megapixel and twelve megapixel digital camera.

At 2.5 inches, the LCD display might be considered a bit small compared to other more modern digital SLR’s but 2.5 inches is still enough to review your photographs on the screen on the back of the Canon Rebel XS. You can also compose your photos and pictures on the screen directly by using the live view technology on the Canon XS

The Auto Light Optimizer feature is pretty advanced, considering this is seven year old technology: What this does is ensures bright areas retain detail, that otherwise would get lost  without this camera detail, and with the use of advanced picture style settings you can choose which settings work best for subject at hand.  Different picture styles can be saved and used again as well. You could have a bright and saturated picture style setting saved for shooting flowers, and more natural looking style for shooting portraits where skin tone should be not as bright as your flower photos.

Combine the integrated cleaning system which shakes any dust off the sensor and then the system automatically detects and deletes any dust that might still remain after you make the photo with the Canon XS. The result is dust free photographs that you can enjoy.

3.0 frames per second  combined with a seven point autofocus system allow for much more flexibility  when shooting with a compact SLR such as the Canon XS. Use the fast frame rate to capture the action and use the autofocu system to automatically shoot with, or select one of the seven points of autofocus you would like to use.

The Canon XS, although a little dated is still a great deal on a digital camera and includes a 15-55mm zoom lens so you’re ready to shoot right out of the box. Although regularily priced at over $600, you can now buy the Canon XS from online resellers such as Amazon, Ritz, B+H and Adorama for much less and under $500.

      Best Digital Cameras

Trying to determine what the best digital camera is depends on so many different variables it’s almost mind boggling. When I started in photography cameras had settings for shutter speed on the camera body, aperture on the camera lens and that was pretty much it. Fast Forward to 2010 cameras have gotten easier to use thanks to digital camera technology in the form of point and shoot and single lens reflex formats but what is the best digital camera that suits your needs? The best digital camera for sports might be a SLR, but when you have to carry a [...]

      Canon SD4000is Digital Camera Review

Canon SD400is Digital Camera The Canon SD4000is has to be considered one of, if not the most feature packed digital cameras I have reviewed to date. This new digital camera  from Canon announced in March 2010 offers many new and advanced technology features that include a super slow movie mode, a fast f/2.0 lens (same as the S90) and a low light shooting mode that makes this digital camera a dream to use when the light is low. Canon Powershot SX20is Digital Camera Review

The Canon SX20is digital camera has one very, very important feature that in my own opinion makes the Canon SX20is a best selling digital camera and beats a lot of other digital cameras on the market today: A 20x zoom lens This one feature (actually there’s another but we’ll get to that in a moment) makes this the best and one of the cheaper digital cameras that are perfect for travelling this summer. With the Canon SX20is you can carry only one camera with you yet still make great photos and use the flexibility that only a 20x zoom lens [...]

Nikon Coolpix S8000 Digital Camera Review

The Nikon Coolpix S8000 small and compact digital camera offer a whole lot of features considering it’s size and price.  With a suggested retail price of $299, it’s still a deal of a digital camera, but with discounts you can buy the Nikon S8000 for much less than the ‘suggested price’ might be. But enough about the Nikon S8000 price, what makes or breaks a digital camera is it’s feature set and the Nikon S8000 is no slouch. Offering 14 megapixels (actually, 14.2) and a 10x optical zoom lens and 3 inch LCD you’d think that would be enough features right [...]

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera takes what was already a very good digital camera in the Canon EOS Rebel T1i and improves on the T1i even further improvements such as more megapixels, better low light sensitivity, and an improved movie mode that offers manual exposure control and Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Like the earlier T1i, the T2i comes in two different configurations: one with kit lens, and one configured as just the camera body only with no lens at all included. Today, I’m reviewing the Canon T2i with 18-55mm zoom lens, so you’re [...]
