The Canon PowerShot SD880IS is a 10 megapixel camera, which offers greater flexibility in printing sizes than Canons with less megapixels such as the Powershot SD1100IS, and the Powershot A590IS which come in at 8 megapixels.
The SD880IS features a 4X Optical zoom which allows you to get close, and a 28mm wide angle when you need to fit it all in. But the wide angle doesn’t need to only be use for ‘getting it all in’. It can also be used for creative angles as it distorts when you get close. Use your imagination.
A huge 3 inch LCD on the back allows you to easily shoot and and review your photographs easily
One of the neat (though I don’t know how useful it would be) features is the ‘Face Self Timer’ feature. The camera will wait until it sees your face before shooting. Put the camera on a tripod, set the timer and join the group for the group photo. The camera will wait and take the photo only when it recognizes your face.
This camera will shoot HIGH ISO of ISO 3200, which will allow you lots of fexibility in shooting under all kinds of different lighting conditions. This would be excellent for low light situations.
The SD880IS offers 3 types of red eye reduction. First, it will try to identify the red eye before the photo is taken, secondly it can be set to detect and correct red eye before playback, and lastly there’s user controls that allow you to remove the red eye.
19 different shooting modes allow you to handle any scene
The MSRP on this camera is $299.99, but you can buy it discounted from many reputable vendors such as Amazon, Ritz, Adorama, or B+H. Using the links I provide here allow me to continue writing more about digital cameras and photography.
